An update from the vineyard, it’s been a cold and wet start to spring, we’re waiting on some warmer weather to start moving the season along. Having said that our Chardonnay is gearing up to start flowering at any minute now. As for the winery, we’ve been blending, bottling and gearing up for our busiest vintage yet! We’re so happy we get to take you with us and show you the sites and sounds of this year’s harvest.

The Great Southern produces wines of precision, clarity, elegance and beauty. Albany is one of its coldest subregions, the vineyards here, sit within 15km of the coast giving them a cool maritime influence. This climate produces fruit with more even ripening and therefore greater flavour as the berries reach maturity. The result? Wines with complex, delicate and balanced flavours. We will be pouring those wines for you to try at the Taste Market for @tastegreatsouthern on Sunday, 8th March, down at Middleton Beach. We’ll see you there. Photo credit @oviscreative

At the winery this week, Brenden has been working on Pinot Noir blends. This vintage our fruit was hand selected from some of our favourite vineyards in the region and kept in their respective batches. This week we’ve blended those batches based on the characteristics we want in your glass. We are pretty chuffed with how the final blend turned out and we think you will be too. As for the vineyard, we’re in a pivotal canopy management stage; shoot thinning and training our vines as we head into flowering in the next month or so. We’re very busy at the moment but, we actually wouldn’t have it any other way.
