This is Luka. Our rural WA representative.

He has been a part of the Monty’s Leap team, in one form or another, since the very beginning. His youthful energy and sense of humour has everyone in stitches whenever he is around.

Luka visits a lot of our local and rural WA stockists getting Monty’s Leap from the winery to your glass. More than this, he is a well known and loved, local personality.

Luka’s favourite wine?
The one in his glass, preferably paired with a steak.

The Chardonnays from this Albany-based producer have consistency and produce wines of generous richness from 100% barrel fermentation, with about 25% new oak, and time on lees in barrel for around 10 months. It picks up plenty of texture and richness to underscore the stone fruit and slightly butterscotch palate. The keen, bright natural acidity adds further lift, complemented by a subtle buttery character.
An appealing wine.

We have a small herd of cattle here at Monty’s Leap. You’ll often spot them grazing together around the property, from alongside the vineyard to all the way over at the Cellar Door. An Angus, a Highlander and a peppering of Friesian’s, they are all steers.

Do we have the tallest cows in the Great Southern?
Maybe!

It’s been a busy week in the winery as we finish off getting the wines ready for you. After filtration and blending Brenden puts each of our wines through final analysis to make sure everything is in order and ready to bottle.

In between bottling runs, we’ve sent a couple of pallets of wine off to our distributors in Perth the legends at @thebevcoaustralia

And in the vineyard, Tim has been working on maintaining and tweaking our irrigation, and filling in gaps in the vineyard with vines from our nursery.

An update from the vineyard, it’s been a cold and wet start to spring, we’re waiting on some warmer weather to start moving the season along. Having said that our Chardonnay is gearing up to start flowering at any minute now. As for the winery, we’ve been blending, bottling and gearing up for our busiest vintage yet!

We’re so happy we get to take you with us and show you the sites and sounds of this year’s harvest.
